Something I have personally enjoyed doing has been forging various blades.
There’s a lot of research that goes into making a historical blade starting from the era, to the dimensions, weights, materials and the techniques of how the particular blade was originally forged.
I have had the privilege of making a knights sword for a couple who got married in Berkeley Castle where they used the sword to cut their wedding cake.
